While we are delighted to see so many smiling faces at school now that we are no longer required to wear masks, many students may feel anxiety over suddenly not wearing masks.
Sudden change can be hard for any student. Especially when they might feel like masks keep them safe. Any feelings of nervousness are completely normal. Here are some ways to talk with your children about how they feel to not wear a mask:
- Have open conversations as a family.
- Anticipate difficult scenarios - going to a crowded mall or movie theater without masks may feel odd for many children. Discuss this in advance to see what may help alleviate any feelings of anxiety.
- Remind your children that some people may still wear masks for personal reasons.
